Welcome to TEAM Hendrix where Together Everyone Achieves More. My name is Caitlin Hendrix and I am so excited to be your child's second grade teacher this coming year! We are going to have a successful and fun year together. This is such a great time in your child's life for them to learn and grow and I am honored to be a part of their journey in education. Since I will be spending a lot of time with you and your child these next months, I want to introduce myself and give you a sneak peek of what will be happening this year.
I am a graduate of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO with a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I am originally from St. Louis, MO, and glad to be around the area. This will be my third year teaching but I have no fear. Last year, I learned a lot about myself and my students that will help me prepare for the upcoming year. This year, I will be going back to school to begin my Master's Degree Program at Stephen's College in Elementary School Counseling. I love being around children, crafting, sports, and hanging out with my friends and family.
This is going to be a very exciting year with a lot of information to cover. Your child will achieve a lot this year in terms of academic growth, self-confidence, and improved social skills. Second grade curriculum has a large focus on time, fractions, life cycles of animals, rocks, reading fluency, and much more!
I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However, I cannot do this alone. This is why I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can send me a note, email me or call me before or after school. I will also do my part by sending out a newsletter each week to update you on what we have been doing in class as well as things that are up coming. For individual concerns, I will contact you by phone, send a note home, or email you (if an email address is provided). Also, please feel free to take part in your child’s second grade year as much as you are able. Helping hands are always needed; whether it is helping on field trips, participating in open house, helping with class parties, or observing your child during class time. If you would like to observe or help in the classroom during the day, please let me now know beforehand so I am prepared.
I look forward to having your child in my classroom this year!
